Founded thanks to the efforts of Patxi Asua and continuing in the family tradition, the ANDRA MARI RESTAURANT is a classic example of Basque cuisine. This lovely country house can be found in Galdakao, provice of Biscay, in the Basque Country, beside the thirteenth Century church, Andra Mari, from which it takes its name. (Andra Mari means Virgen Mary in Basque) It is beautifully situated, with a glorious view of the valley of the Ibaizabal river and the majestic mountains of Dima, Oiz and Gorbea.

In May 1964, the brothers and sisters Asua - Patxi, Dominga and Juan Cruz - opened the ANDRA MARI RESTAURANT. The restaurant was housed in the lower part of the Asua family's country house. The basement was converted into a tavern which became a well known meeting place for the people of Galdakao.

So from these beginnings the ANDRA MARI RESTAURANT as we know it today was born, and since then has developed into one of the best examples of Basque gastronomy. Nowadays, Roberto Asua (Patxi's son) runs the restaurant, offering a superb range of recipies, that combine tradition and innovation. Delicious classical Basque cuisine, presented and cooked like never before.
